Sigona Ward Muguga North · Kiambu County · Kenya
Sigona Road & Trail Cycling — where sport meets environmental stewardship. Discover, compete, and conserve alongside Bama Forest.
Our Story
Sigona Road & Trail is a community-based cycling initiative founded in October 2025 in Muguga North, Sigona Ward, Kiambu County. Our roots lie in the villages surrounding Gachuthi and Bama Forest — home to KEFRI and KALRO.
What began as a small group of enthusiasts has grown into a movement that uses sport as a catalyst for community transformation. Through organised events and regular training, we bring together young people, families, athletes, and local leaders.
Our flagship events, the Sigona Kite Series, have become a platform for discovering cycling talent while championing climate action and sustainable mobility.
A vibrant cycling culture that empowers communities, inspires environmental responsibility, and nurtures local talent to national excellence.
To use cycling as a platform for health, climate awareness, green mobility, talent development, and community cohesion.

What We Do
Situated next to Bama Forest and KEFRI, we use every event to educate participants on conserving natural ecosystems. Today's athletes become tomorrow's environmental champions.
Cycling is one of the most sustainable transport forms available. We encourage communities to embrace cycling not just as sport, but as a practical solution that reduces emissions and eases congestion.
Our tournaments give grassroots athletes a stage to compete, gain exposure, and build confidence. We identify and nurture talent at village level, contributing to Kenya's rich sporting heritage.
Regular physical activity improves physical and mental health outcomes. By encouraging cycling participation, we contribute to healthier lifestyles and stronger social connections within our communities.
Green Action
Our club sits at the intersection of sport and conservation. Operating adjacent to Bama Forest and in partnership with KEFRI, we integrate tree planting and environmental education directly into our cycling programme.
Every Kite Village Tournament includes a conservation component — from tree planting drives to ecosystem awareness talks. We work with local KEFRI offices, KALRO, and other conservation organisations to plan and execute planting initiatives alongside our race calendar.
We believe that athletes who ride these roads have a duty to protect them — and the forests that sustain them.
Global Goals
Our work directly contributes to five United Nations Sustainable Development Goals — local action with global impact.
